Cape Town and Surrounds

Date:
The tour will depart on Sunday 28 September. The departure point will be at your hotel and the time will depend on the availability of flights.

ITINERARY:

Day 1:
After breakfast and check-out from your accommodation venue, we depart from Pretoria to O.R. Tambo International Airport for your flight to Cape Town, known as the "Mother City" of South Africa.
We check in at the airport and, after arriving in Cape Town, meet our guide and check into a 4-star hotel.
After freshening up, we will be transferred by our guide to the V&A Waterfront for an afternoon at leisure.
Overnight in Cape Town. Bed and breakfast included. Dinner (for own account) at the hotel, or at a restaurant in the surrounding area.

Day 2:
After breakfast we meet our guide, who will take us, via the aerial cableway, to the summit of Table Mountain to admire the views of the city and the Cape Peninsula. (Table Mountain cableway is only operational if weather conditions permits it on the day of the proposed visit and therefore entrance to the cableway will be for your own account.)
Enjoy lunch (for own account) at the V&A Waterfront.
Enjoy some time at leisure for some souvenir shopping etc.
In the afternoon we proceed to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to board a ferry to Robben Island.
Now a World Heritage Site, this prison was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment for nearly 400 years. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. During the Apartheid years, Robbin Island became internationally known for its institutional brutality. The sombre journey back will be contrasted by beautiful views of Table Mountain and Table Bay.
Return to the hotel in Cape Town. Bed and breakfast included. Dinner (for own account) at the hotel, or at a restaurant in the surrounding area.

Day 3:
After breakfast, we check out from the hotel in Cape Town and depart on a tour of the Cape Peninsula. We visit the quaint village of Hout Bay, one of the most beautiful and popular places on the Cape Peninsula, and then drive via the newly-renovated and spectacular Chapman's Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope. We will spend some time at the lookout point.
Enjoy a seafood lunch (for own account).
After lunch we visit the KirstenboschBotanical Gardens. This garden was voted one of the seven most beautiful botanical gardens in the world!
In the afternoon we explore the Cape Town city centre. We will drive past the Houses of Parliament, visit the South African Museum, the country's leading natural history musem, or the National Gallery, the country's premier art museum (entrance fees are optional and for your own account).
Our next stop is Rouxwil Country House, where we will enjoy legendary Overberg hospitality. The country house, nested between vast, rolling fields of wheat fields, orchards and majestic mountains, provides an everchanging kaleidoscope of colours.
In the late afternoon we will arrive at Rouxwil Farm.
Overnight at Rouxwil Farm. Dinner, bed and breakfast included.

Day 4:  
After breakfast, we depart from Rouxwil for Paarl, the headquarters of the famous KWV (Co-operative Winemakers' Society of South Africa Ltd) and home of the Afrikaans Language Monument, the only monument in the world that is dedicated to a language.
In Paarl we will also visit Fairview Winery and Cheese Farm.
In the afternoon we return to Rouxwil Farm where you may enjoy a farm tour.
For lunch (included) we will enjoy an authentic taste of South African cuisine, inclucing "waterblommetjies" and beetroot or "snoek and patats", bread and homemade jams, and cheeses, or venison and quinces.
Overnight at Rouxwil Farm. Lunch, dinner, bed and breakfast included.

Day 5: 

After breakfast, we will check out from Rouxwil Farm.
Our guide will meet us for our transfer to Cape Town International Airport .
In Cape Town we will check in for our flight back to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
Upon arrival in Johannesburg, check in for your connecting flight back home.
